Typefully

A clean writing and scheduling app for X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, with previews that match what actually publishes.

Personal BrandingFree 10 posts/mo; Creator $99/yr; Business from $18/mo per social set

Who it's for

Writers building an audience on X and LinkedIn who want a proper editor and a queue, not a full social media suite.

Standout details

  • The free plan publishes to all five platforms with scheduling and API access, capped at 10 posts a month
  • Creator is $99 a year with no monthly option, and adds X analytics, AI writing and unlimited media uploads
  • Business is $18/mo per social set billed yearly or $20/mo monthly, covering up to 50 social sets, unlimited users and 1,000 posts a month
  • Pixel-accurate previews for threads, mentions and media, so you see the post before it ships
  • MCP server, API and agent skills are on every plan including the free one

What it is

Typefully is a writing app first and a scheduler second. You draft in a focused editor, see a pixel-accurate preview of how the post will render, then schedule or queue it. It publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, and can cross-post to several at once.

Around that sit X analytics, an AI writing assistant that learns your voice, natural language scheduling, LinkedIn PDF carousels, auto-plug, scheduled retweets and a Mac app.

Who should use it

Solo writers and founders whose distribution is text. If your growth comes from threads, LinkedIn posts and consistency, this is built for exactly that. Teams get shared drafts, comments and Slack notifications, but only on the top plan.

What stands out

The free plan is more generous than the cap makes it sound. Ten posts a month is thin, but you get all five platforms, the full editor, advanced scheduling, and API, MCP and agent access, which means you can wire Typefully into a workflow and judge the whole product before spending anything.

The tier structure has an odd shape worth understanding before you pay. Creator is a solo plan and stays that way: it adds X analytics, AI writing and unlimited media uploads, but you still get one social set and one user. Business is priced per social set, is where collaboration lives, and lifts the publishing cap to 1,000 posts a month. So there is no middle option for a solo writer who wants a second brand or an assistant. You go straight from one seat to a per-set team plan.

The previews are the part I would actually pay for. Threads, mentions and media render exactly as they will publish, which sounds minor until a scheduler has mangled a thread for you.

The verdict

I rate Typefully because the editor gets out of the way and the preview is honest. Most schedulers show you an approximation and then publish something slightly different. This one does not.

The limits are real. Analytics cover X only, so if LinkedIn is your main channel you are flying blind on the platform you care most about, and Efficient App’s review also found the best-time-to-post suggestions inconsistently accurate. Collaboration sits behind Business, so a Creator subscriber never sees the team workflow they might have assumed was included.

For anyone whose audience watches instead of reading, this is the wrong tool, and no plan fixes that.

Honest verdict

If X and LinkedIn are where your audience lives, this is the writing app I would use, and the free plan gives you ten posts a month to test that claim before paying. It supports five platforms and no others, so anyone whose growth comes from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook should stop reading here. Analytics cover X and not LinkedIn, which matters a lot if LinkedIn is your main channel, and Creator is billed annually with no monthly option at all.
